The first rules for American football were developed at the Massasoit convention. 

On November 23, 1876, Representatives from Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, and Yale met at Massasoit House in Massachusetts to decide on new universal rules, an event later termed the "Massasoit Convention." 

Walter Chauncey Camp was an American football player, coach, and sports writer known as the "Father of American Football." In 1883 he secured the adoption of a scale of numerical values for scoring by a touchdown, point after touchdown, field goal, and safety. 

Football was initially a college game. 

The game became exceptionally popular, especially among the middle and upper classes, first in the Northeast and then across the country. 

As football fanned out to other colleges in the 1880s and 1890s, most of its teachers were former Yale players who had learned the game under the camp. 

The annual Thanksgiving Day championship played in New York City between the two best college teams. Usually, Yale and Princeton kicked off the winter social season and by the early 1890s drew as many as 40,000 spectators. 

The camp was unique but far from flawed as a combination player, strategist, tactician, and innovator. 

American football is one of those sports that has seen it all, experienced it all, testified to it all, ignored it all, and survived it all. 

From an elitist college game to bets and wagers, to a match dubbed and stricken by poor conditions for players, to a dangerous game, even referred to s a "murderous" game. 

From heroism to villainization, from envy to judgment. From reward to restitution, football has endured it all—a game of champions. 

No one can deny it; football was once, at the very beginning, a vision of an "all- American team," for good and for bad. Today, loved, hated; it simply is the all-American! 

Decades have passed, generations have moved on, players have passed on, players have retired, players have gotten recorded into the hall of fame, yet, football remains; all-American. 

The all-American football dream is one of the most popular sports on the planet, ranked ninth (9') in the world with an estimated 400 million followers. 

The NFL, founded in 1920, is regarded as one of the most prestigious leagues in the world. The Super Bowl is the most-watched game of all in the USA. Each year, approximately 100 million fans tune in to watch this game. Thirty-two (32) teams under one all-American umbrella. A 272-game slate. 

Football is one of the most underdeveloped and underrated sports franchises in the world. It's about to change. 

In 2022, XFL, USFL, and LFL are all coming out to play. Professional football is finally becoming a part of its local community. 

Professional football is about to get a long-awaited, and significant overhaul as fans across the U.S. and the world are about to bring professional football close, upfront and personal, still as "the most strategically complex sport in the world," and perhaps one of the most entertaining!
